Dr. Sapp is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over thirty years experience assessing, diagnosing, and treating psychological disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and her Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Clinical Psychology from Biola University in Los Angeles, CA. Her doctoral dissertation focused on survivors of childhood sexual abuse and the implications of childhood trauma on adult adjustment. Dr. Sapp completed her APA Accredited Doctoral Residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she was later appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Sapp is an expert in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. Throughout her career, she has researched and presented on topics related to Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed care. Dr. Sapp was awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the International Society of Female Professionals in recognition of professional excellence. She was additionally awarded “Who’s Who in Local Communities” by News Digest International recognizing professionals who have contributed to improving their local communities.
Dr. Sapp has worked in a variety of settings including a child guidance clinic, juvenile probation center, university counseling center, adolescent and adult psychiatric hospitals, schools, and Los Angeles and Charlotte based private practices.
